The annual Fanquest Basketball Tournament featuring Robinson’s unified teams took place on February 3, 2018 in Robinson’s field house. The week before the tournament was filled with activities to highlight inclusion and disability awareness week.

“Fanquest benefits everybody and lets people see things from a different perspective,” said Mr. Eline, Robinson’s principal.

Activities began on Tuesday with neon day and bowling night from 6-8 at Bowl America. On Wednesday, there was a movie character day and a movie night where Wonder was shown. Thursday was sports jersey day in preparation for the big games. Friday was the Fanquest pep rally where the students who participated in the official games played a friendly practice game to entertain the fans.

This year Fanquest had a large showing with students and faculty from across the county.

Fanquest started with the tailgate in the main hallway at 4:30 and the basketball games began at 6:00pm.

“I love how Fanquest incorporates everyone in the activities,” said John G.

Robinson won all three of their games this year with the middle school and high school both beating their opponents. The Middle School Unified took home a win against Frost 34-19, and the High School Unified beat Lake Braddock in a close game, 40-38. The high school team won against Paul VI, 32-16.

In between the games there was entertainment from the middle school dance team and Laurel Ridge Elementary school jump rope team. There was a dunk contest during halftime at the second game.

“I like how the special needs kids get a chance to shine,” Roux O. 8th
